Leap Day, Extra Day as I like to call it, in my mind is such an exciting day! Why? Well, I’ll tell you. Every four years we are given an Extra day to do something special. Leap Day 2008 I was a senior in College. I celebrated by hanging out with all my best friends at school. We made up Extra Day songs, and hand signs, and even came up with a new word, “Wibble.”
Wibble. Part of Speech: N. V. Adj. Adv. P. Prep. I. Definition: Means anything you want it to mean on Extra Day. Sentence: I want to wibble all day. Will you wibble that Diet Coke this way? Hand me the Wibble.
The objective of Wibble Extra Day 2008: Celebrate hard and seek to create a new holiday—so special a holiday that we only celebrate it every 4 years.
That time has come again. It is Extra Day 2012. How can I make this day special, different, creative?
Objectives of Extra Day 2012:
Number 1: Introduce Extra Day to my students.
This morning we did an Extra Day activity. Writing assignment: If you had one extra day this year what would you do with it?
Responses included: Snow board off of Mount Everest. Play video games all day. Play with my friends. Spend more time with my family. No school—eat ice cream all day. Play with my new puppy. Tell someone about Jesus.
I really liked the last response. If you could one extra day this year would you be wise or foolish with it? I want to make a difference this year. I can use my extra day to further the Kingdom!
Lord, help me to use my time wisely this year. Help me to use not only my extra day for your glory, but every day.
Number 2: Play LEAP flog at recess.
This was a little difficult because the ground was wet and the girls were wearing jumpers…but it worked out pretty well.
Number 3: Teach students the new “secret” word only to be used on Extra Day—WIBBLE.
Listen all day as students use the word wibble CONSTANTLY.
Use the Wibble hand sign when others are around as to not let anyone else know the secret word.
Number 4: Take a Wibble Picture.
Number 5: Give an Extra Day Devotion.
Psalm 90:12 Teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
Number 6:
Look at listings of houses with Landon.
Number 7: Dinner Celebration
Have a lovely celebratory dinner at Chick-Fil-A.
Number 8: Party!
This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it!
Wibble on!
Rebekah
